Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度の主な研究成果としては2点が挙げられる。第一に、白色矮星が破壊される潮汐破壊現象における観測兆候の多様性をシミュレーションによって明らかにした点である。第二に、その観測兆候の理論モデルを実際に観測された天体と比較することで、白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象の候補天体を発見し、その天体の観測頻度からブラックホールの個数密度を求めたことである。白色矮星が破壊される潮汐破壊現象の特徴として、破壊される白色矮星が強い圧縮・加熱によって爆発的原子核反応を起こすという点がある。この際には原子核反応で生成された原子核の崩壊によって白色矮星の残骸から輻射が生じるが、その観測兆候はほとんど未解明だった。昨年度までにヘリウムを主として構成される白色矮星が破壊される場合の観測兆候の理論予言を求めたが、今年度はさらに白色矮星の質量が異なる4通りのパラメータセットに拡張した。それにより、白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象の多様性を明らかにした。本モデルは多様性を備えた理論モデルであるため、白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象に共通して見られる、既知の突発天体と区別できる固有の特徴を発見することに成功した。この特徴は最新・次世代の突発天体観測のデータから白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象を見つける上で有用な情報となる。また、求めた理論モデルを突発天体の観測データと比較して本理論予言と合致する天体を発見し、白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象の候補天体として報告した。さらに、候補天体の観測頻度から白色矮星の潮汐破壊現象の発生頻度を見積もった。この発生頻度は白色矮星を破壊する中間質量ブラックホールの個数密度と比例するので、続いて中間質量ブラックホールの個数密度の見積もりを与えた。中間質量ブラックホールの個数密度は非常に不確かなため、本研究により個数密度の見積もりを与えたことは大きな成果であり、大質量ブラックホールの形成・成長過程を知る上で重要な手がかりとなる。
