高・中エントロピー合金の系統的比較による高濃度固溶体合金の本質的特徴の解明

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

前年度の研究で,FCC単相のHEA/MEAは,従来の希薄合金や純金属に比べて非常に高い摩擦応力(固溶体中における転位の運動に対する基礎抵抗)を有していることが明らかになった.高濃度多元系では,原子サイズの異なる様々な合金元素が高濃度で固溶することで,結晶格子に大きなひずみが生じ,それが転位の弾性場と相互作用することで,従来の純金属や希薄合金に比べ非常に高い摩擦応力が得られると考えられる.HEA/MEAに特徴的な高い摩擦応力は,材料の降伏強度と変形応力を増大させるが,それのみではFCC単相HEA/MEAが有する優れた強度・延性バランスを説明することができない.本年度は「FCC単相HEA/MEAの高い摩擦応力とその優れた力学特性 (変形挙動) との間に何か関係があるのではないか」という仮説を立て,それを検証した.前年度に調査した材料の中でも特に高い摩擦応力を有するCo20Cr40Ni40三元系MEAと低い摩擦応力を有するCo60Ni40合金の室温における引張変形挙動を比較した.Co60Ni40合金に比べて,Co20Cr40Ni40 MEAは高い変形応力,加工硬化率を示した.従来のFCC希薄固溶体合金に比べて,高濃度多元系では,変形中の動的回復が抑制されることで,転位密度が増大し,高い加工硬化能が得られると考えられる.
これまでの研究から,HEA/MEAでは,(1) 固溶元素のサイズ差に起因した格子ひずみと転位の弾性場の相互作用により,非常に高い摩擦応力が得られること,(2) 変形中の転位の交差すべりが抑制されることによって,転位密度,加工硬化率が上昇しやすくなることといった高濃度多元系固溶体の特徴が明らかとなった.高濃度多元系では,結晶格子中のそれぞれの原子サイトに異なる元素が配置し,元素のサイズ差によって格子が歪んだ特異な状態が,その優れた力学特性の起源であることが示唆された.
