Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまで、水酸化銅ナノ結晶配向膜を足場材料とすることで、ナノ結晶表面へ形成したMetal-organic frameworks(MOF)がcmスケールで配向する事を報告してきた。これらの配向MOF薄膜は更に異種MOF結晶を積層する基板と見なすことができ、同一基板上で結晶方位を揃えたMOF-on-MOF薄膜へと展開する事ができる。

今年度はこれらの知見に基づき、配向性MOF-on-MOF薄膜中のMOF界面のエピタキシャル成長機構を格子整合性の観点から精密に解明することで、優れたMOF-on-MOF薄膜の実現に向けた材料設計指針を示した。昨年度に報告した配向性MOF-on-MOF薄膜の高い機能性は、上層へ形成したMOF結晶が下層MOF薄膜の結晶性や配向性を高いレベルで保持する事で実現する。そこで、3種類のCu-paddle-wheel系の MOFを用いて計 6種類の配向性MOF-on-MOF薄膜を作製し、XRD測定によってそれぞれの結晶子サイズ・面内配向度の変化を比較した。結果、上層のMOF結晶の配向度は、相対的な 上下MOF結晶間の格子定数の大小関係に影響されることを見いだした 。これらの知見が多層系でも有用である事を、3層のMOF-on-MOF薄膜を比較する事で実証している。

また、配向MOF薄膜に関する研究で得られた成果を発展させ、配向COF薄膜へ合成系を拡張した。基板全面で配向した水酸化銅ナノ結晶の表面水酸基は、COFの原料であるボロン酸と水素結合する異方的な足場とみなす事ができ、基板に対して垂直にCOFシートが立ち、かつ平行な方向 (in-plane)へCOFシート間のπ-π stackingが広がる配向COF薄膜の形成が期待される。実験の結果、COF-1の配向薄膜の作製し、その界面の結合様式を解明する事で水素結合を介した新しい配向メカニズムを発見するに至った。
