Outline of Final Research Achievements	This study examined the artistic director system and its formation process at the international art exhibition "documenta". During the period of overseas travel restrictions due to the Corona Disaster, I was engaged mainly in research of materials via the Internet, analyzing exhibition catalogs, previous research papers, journal articles, and other materials. After the travel restrictions were eased, I visited the documenta Archives, the exhibition's archive, for this research, reviewed the minutes of management meetings. Through this research, the wide-ranging activities by the exhibition's founder, Arnold Bode, formed the basis for the role model of the exhibition's artistic director.
Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	本研究を通して、ドクメンタにおける芸術監督の権限の広範さとその歴史的背景を確認した。世界各地で数多くの国際美術展が開催されるなかで、ドクメンタがいまだ独自の地位を確立できている要因のひとつにはその芸術監督制がある。展覧会の類似や画一化が指摘されるなかで、本研究は、国際美術展の企画運営における芸術監督制のひとつのあり方を提供する。
