| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research encompassed two main points. Firstly, it aimed to analyze the relationship of substitution between Japanese ceramics and other domestically produced ceramics using statistical data. Furthermore, statistical data was used to analyze the domestic demand structure. Secondly, survey data was used to clarify the existence and characteristics of latent demand among consumers who preferred traditional crafts.
As a result of this research, for example, the following things were clarified. Comparing findings from different time points revealed that basic attributes such as price, quantity, and quality were involved in traditional craft purchasing decisions.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
伝統産業（伝統工芸品産業）の研究は、産地に形成される産業組合や作家に焦点をあて産地や工芸品のブランディングを志向する、いわゆる「供給サイド」の研究報告が多い。そのような中で、われわれのグループは、陶磁器をはじめとする伝統工芸品需要の統計解析を進めるなど、「需要サイド」の研究に取り組んできた。需要の減退によって産業の衰退がみられるが、地域の誇る伝統産業は「持続可能な産業として再生を図ること」が今日的な課題である。本研究は、「新たな需要」の創出に資するため、消費者のニーズの多様性に着目し伝統工芸品の需要構造の解明に迫ろうとした点に、研究の意義を見出せるものと思料する。
