| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to obtain the differences between conventional "accuracy" oriented assessment and "international versatility" oriented assessment, the challenges involved, and the implications for the educational field to be gained from these differences. When we checked various perspectives, mainly in the areas of speaking and writing, we found that when performance is used as the evaluation material, we can obtain close evaluation results, whether Holistic or by adding up the evaluations from different perspectives. However, the correlation was not so high when compared to accuracy-oriented tests such as TOEIC. From an educational perspective, the importance of "international versatility" oriented assessment was confirmed. It seems to be linked to learners' willingness to "express themselves.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
「国際英語論」は言語使用の機会の提供に欠ける日本の英語教育には不可欠な考え方であることは多くの研究者や教育者が賛同するところである。だが、「間違ってもいい」「伝わることが大切」という考え方は評価論では受け入れがたいものがある。今回の研究では、国際英語論の観点からの評価は、従来の正確さを基準とする評価と相関が低い分野とほとんど大きくは変わらない分野もあることが判明した。しかし国際英語論の観点からの評価の方が、学習者の動機づけを高め言語活動を促すことに繋がることが示唆された。しかも、方法論としては様々な方法があることが確認できた。日本の英語教育においては重要な示唆を与えてくれていると言えよう。
