| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
By taking up Buddhist events centered on the royal palaces of Japan, Korea, and China, the aim was to elucidate regional characteristics and mutual influence relationships. We were able to hold the workshop and symposium. In the "Japan-Korea Comparative Religious History Symposium" and the "East Asian Comparative Religious History Symposium on Palaces and Capitals: Japan, Song, Goryeo, Khitan", the development of Buddhism in various regions centered on the royal palaces of East Asian countries. It became clear that the value of the legitimacy of each “royal authority” and the use of Buddhism in the royal palace are linked.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
東アジアにおける王権の正統性を比較研究を実施するための、基礎的な調査を実施することができた。とくに仏教は、インドに由来し、アジア世界に広範に受容されたが、その受容のされ方は、地域と時代の特色を示すものであり、交流の歴史を示すものであると言ってよい。より具体的にいえば、王権の正統性に揺らぎが生じた時ほど、伝統的な権威だけではなく、仏教など周縁的・外来的な要素がそれを補完することが、共通して看取されるのであり、文明における普遍的な特徴であるともいえる。
