This research project examined and compared the methods of military building between the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Nationalist Party during the Chinese Civil War. The conclusion of the analysis was that there was no fundamental differences between the CCP and CNP regarding military building.Both camps mainly relied on employment, coercion, and absorbing enemy units.Then what was the key factor that decided the outcome of the civil war? Through observing multiple declassified documents of the CNP and the U.S. Army, this research found out that the Soviet Union was providing massive military aid to the CCP since the early stage of the civil war. Based on this finding, this research project suggests that foreign intervention was the crucial element that decided the outcome of the Chinese civil war.
