６年目である今年度も、十分に手応えのある成果（あるいは、成果に直結する活動）をあげることができた。まず、最も重要な成果として、アメリカで最大のマス・メディア、ジャーナリズム研究の学会（Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication =AEJMC）で、これまでの研究をふまえたフル・ペーパー（タイトルは“Too Obvious to Be Propaganda: Failed Government Uses of Japanese Americans in World War II Camps”）を投稿し、査読で高い評価を受けて採用され、発表できた。8月にワシントンDCで発表した際にも、有益なコメント多く受けることができた。これにあわせて、アメリカ公文書館を訪れ、パンデミックにより停滞してきた史料収集を再開できた。
この発表後にペーパーを改稿し、日本アメリカ学会の英字誌（The Japanese Journal of American Studies）に投稿したのが “People’s Voice or Government’s Mouthpiece? Failed Propaganda Uses of Japanese Americans in World War II Camps”である。好意的な評価を受け、第35号（2024年6月）に掲載予定である。
最後に、2024年9月にスタンフォード大学で開催される予定の国際ワークショップ（International Workshop on Japanese Diaspora）にむけた投稿論文の執筆を開始することもできた。タイトル（仮）は“The Hawai‘i Japanese-Language Newspapers and Pearl Harbor Attack
Fulfilling Professional Duties During the Most Chaotic Days”である。採用されれば、2017年以来のスタンフォード大学再訪となり、同大学に付属するHoover Institutionにおいて史料収集することができるはずである。

Reason
「研究実績の概要」で述べたように、初年度から引き続き十分といえる成果を残すことができたからである。2004年度以降、継続的に1年も欠けることなく科研費を受けつづけることができたため、蓄積がふんだんにあること、さらに研究フィールドであるハワイに一定期間滞在して研究に打ち込めたことが絶大な効果をあげていると考える。2023年度からはパンデミックが明けて史料収集を再始動することもできた。これまで収集してきた一次史料や文献を駆使して、今後も国内外の厳しい学会誌などへの投稿などに励みたい。

上述のとおり、当初計画した以上の成果をあげているので、それに満足・油断することなく、再々延長が認められた2024年度（最終年度）も継続的に史料収集、文献精読にはげみ、かつ論文執筆をさらに進展させるよう努力するつもりである。
