The authors investigated the adult guardianship system and supported decision-making system in Australia, focusing on New South Wales and Victoria trends in light of the reform of the adult guardianship system and disability welfare services. A training programme on risk enablement was also developed and implemented in Japan.As a result, several significant reforms were identified in Victorian guardianship law, and legislative changes to decision support were also being considered in New South Wales. The significance of nominees in the NDIS (the National Disability Insurance Scheme) and the applicability of risk enablement training were also identified as outcomes.
オーストラリア（豪州）は国連・障害者権利条約批准後の勧告などを受けて連邦としての意思決定原則を作成しており、これを受けてヴィクトリア州は成年後見制度の改正を行った。このような中にあって筆者らが研究期間中に整理した議論は、後見制度と意思決定支援ならびにNDISがどのように影響し合いながら進められたかについて示唆を与えることが出来た。また福祉的な側面に目を向けるなら、サービス提供現場での意思決定支援に関する具体的なプログラムや研修はあまり多くなく、これを日本の文化に向けて検討し、実践に向けて開発を進める筆者らの成果は、日本における意思決定支援のあり方に実際的な知見と提案を与えうるものである。
