| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Presented a poster at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) 2024 Annual Convention in San Diego, titled, "Explaining American directness and Japanese indirectness: Focusing on relational and situational factors." Attempted to collect data in China and Canada, but adequate samples for a meaningful analysis could not be attained. Will continue to collect data in these countries after the grant period.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
これまで、コミュニケーションの相手との関係性や、状況について考慮した上で文化比較が行われていなかったため、大雑把な比較で、結果の信憑性が問われる研究が多かった。本研究はコミュニケーションを行う相手の特徴や状況を考慮した上での文化比較を行い、より正確な文化比較を実現した。
また、先行研究の多くは、文化比較を「文化レベル」のみで行い、個人レベルの変数を含めていない。本研究では関係流動性、自意識、文化的自己観および自己制御焦点を用いて、文化のコミュニケーション行動への影響を個人特性を介して説明をしている。
