Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this project, we study on an ordinary linear differential equation with a modular property, and we call it a modular linear differential equation (short for a MLDE). In general, we know few facts about MLDEs.
Through this project, we find fundamental formulae of modular linear differential equations, and several correspondences between modular forms and characters for vertex operator algebras by using MLDEs.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

モジュラー形式と楕円曲線との関係や,頂点作用素代数の指標関数の分類などで度々現れるなどしている保型線形微分方程式ですが,保型線形微分方程式自身について研究を行ったことにより,今まで明らかになっていなかった基本的性質などを解明した.
また,保型線形微分方程式を介して整数論と頂点作用素代数とのある種の対応関係があることをいくつも確認できた.これは,同じ代数学の分野であるが,異なる研究対象を考察する際の道具としての有用性を示すものと確信している.
