Outline of Final Research Achievements

Since Y. Andre proved the direct summand conjeture, there has been tremendous progress in the research of commutative ring theory in mixed characteristic. We have succeeded in obtaining some deep results, including refined forms of big Cohen-Macaulay algebras, an extension of Perfectoid Abhyankar's lemma to non-perfectoid rings. Besides, it has been well understood that commutative rings could be studied by observing them as commutative monoids.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は近年、大きな進展を遂げつつある数論幾何学やLanglandsプログラムに見られる新しい手法や考え方から影響を受けていることを強調したい。可換環と呼ばれるある種の代数系は専ら体を含む状況において研究が進展してきた。体を含まない状況においては整数環といった数論的に重要な対象が含まれることもあり、永らくその様な研究が活性化することが切望されていた。本研究では体を含まない可換環を研究するが、最終的な狙いは数論において大域体と呼ばれる対象を扱う手法を開発することにある。
