Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The Kogane River in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is the world's only natural habitat for Suzenjinori(Aphanothece sacrum (Sur.) Okada) under natural conditions. However, in recent years, the discharge(amount of spring water) in the Kogane River has decreased, resulting in a drastic decline in the amount of the Suzenjinori production, and the conservation measures are urgently needed. In this study, the causes of the decrease in the spring water flow were clarified. Moreover, the introduction of surface drainage from upstream farmland to the Kogane River, winter flooding of surrounding farmland, and reduction of pumping costs using solar power generation were examined as measures to restore the flow, and the effects and problems of each measure were clarified.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
