Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、比の形質を改良する上で欠かせない相対希望改良量を達成するための制限付き選抜法において、主に線形代数的手法を用いることでこれまで明らになっていない事項について解明した。
Kempthorneの選抜指数は一部の形質の変化量をゼロに制限して総合育種価（BV）を最大にする。Harvilleの選抜指数はいくつかの形質の変化量の比を一定にして総合BVを最大化する。Yamadaの選抜指数はすべての形質の相対希望改良量を達成するためのものである。Kempthorneの選抜指数とHarvilleの選抜指数は数学的に同等であることが証明されているが、これら２つの選抜指数とYamadaの選抜指数との関係は明確にされていない。加えて、制限付き選抜指数の性質およびBVと制限付き育種価（RBV）との関係もまた未知である。そこで、まずYamadaの選抜指数が数学的にKempthorneの選抜指数に包括されることを証明した。次に、通常の選抜指数によって推定されたBV（EBV）と制限付き選抜指数によって推定されたRBV（ERBV）との関係を調査し、制限される形質のERBVは相対希望改良量に比例することを証明した。最後に、RBVはBV の１次関数で表され、BVとRBVとの関係を幾何学的に導いた。本研究では、制限付き選抜指数とRBVに関する新たな知見が得られた。このBVとRBVの関係の有用な明確化により、コンピュータシミュレーション研究において制限付き選抜指数だけでなく、制限付きBLUPにおける選抜反応の評価が可能になる。また、この方法をシミュレーションデータに当てはめ、この方法が有効であることを確認した。
次に、母性効果を含む形質において、選抜指数法により直接遺伝効果と母性遺伝効果に対する最適な重み付け値を得る理論的手法を開発した。この方法はBLUP法にも応用できると考えられる。
