Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we identified PSAT as a novel regulatory factor in root nodule symbiosis (RNS), in which legume plants and symbiotic microorganisms fix atmospheric nitrogen. PSAT functions in the sterol homeostasis in Arabidopsis. We found that the function of PSAT in RNS can be uncoupled from that in the sterol homeostasis. PSAT represented a strong genetical correlation with a small subset of symbiotic genes. Together with its mysterious subcellular localization, oud data imply the existence of novel signaling cascades in RNS. The results we obtained through this study add novel information to the field of plant-microbe symbiosis to help deeper understanding of RNS in the views of genetics and molecular biology.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
