Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To investigate the long-term influence of head -neutron irradiation on mice spleens, post-irradiation late effects were examined in three types of mice. The onset of primary splenic malignant lymphoma was recognized in many of the Balb/c mice 18 months after head-neutron irradiation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
中性子の頭部部分照射後の照射部位ではない脾臓に脾原発性悪性リンパ腫が発症した事実は非常に貴重な発見である。この結果から頭部への部分中性子照射の脾臓への晩発影響は遺伝子背景の違いで非常に異なることが分かった。BNCTプラス免疫療法のプロトコルについて、治療効果向上のためには患者自身の遺伝子情報の違いにより対策を講じる必要があることが示唆された。
