| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We evaluated AZIN1 RNA editing levels in GC tissues using a RNA editing site-specific quantitative polymerase chain reaction assays. We also analyzed the clinical significance of these results as disease biomarkers in GC patients. As a result, AZIN1 RNA editing levels were significantly elevated in GC tissues. Furthermore, hyper-edited AZIN1 emerged as an independent prognostic factor for OS and DFS in GC patients.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究において、AZIN1においてだがそのRNA editing levelが胃癌の有用なバイオマーカーとなる可能性が示唆された。RNA editingにおいてはAZIN1以外の遺伝子にもeditingが起こり、それが胃癌腹膜播種において重要なkey playerとなる可能性が示唆され、次世代シーケンスを用いたdiscovery、ならびに当講座で厳重に保管管理しているサンプルを用いてバイオマーカーとしての意義を検証し、さらには胃癌細胞株やマウスモデルでその胃癌進展/播種転移における機序解明の研究を今後も継続していく予定であり、本研究成果はその試金石として重要な役割を果たしていると考える。
