Outline of Final Research Achievements

To investigate possible causative genes for preterm birth in periodontitis patients, we performed an exome analysis of nine women who had given birth and were diagnosed with periodontitis. The subjects had 10,395 mutations, nine common to the preterm birth and FGR groups.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究において早産群と胎児発育不全群で共通して検出された9個の変異は、歯周炎患者における早産の原因遺伝子の1つとなりうる可能性があると期待される。今後、疾患モデル動物による遺伝子の機能解析など詳細な研究が必要である。
