Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have been developing pulp and dentin regenerative therapy. This time, we have made a dentin induction device for regenerating high-strength tubular dentin. First, we determined the optimum conditions for the dentin induction device in vitro. And we succeeded in imparting antibacterial properties with nanoparticles. In canine pulpectomy and pulpotomy model, the dentin induction device induced dentin. These results suggest the effectiveness of dentin regeneration of the dentin induction device.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

象牙質再生の研究においてはMTAやBiodentinを用いた場合、in vitro, in vivoにおいて、骨様象牙質の再生の報告があるが、細管象牙質の再生ができた研究報告はない。骨様象牙質は、方向性がなく石灰化が不十分で脆弱、網目状である欠点がある。今回の研究結果より細管象牙質が再生されたことで、骨様象牙質による被蓋象牙質形成を改善し、強固で方向性のある細管象牙質で再生できるため、二次う蝕や歯髄炎を防止できる可能性がある。
