Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Since HSV typing has not been clinically diagnosed in Japan and it is unclear whether type I or type II HSV is present, women are prone to depression at the onset of herpes infection, and a decreased quality of life has been reported. In addition, some women are extremely anxious about mother-to-child horizontal transmission of HSV due to asymptomatic excretion during breastfeeding, and they complain that they are unable to care for their children without anxiety. In this study, we conducted quantitative (including asymptomatic excretion) and typing diagnosis of HSV in these patients, and explored what is a major cause of anxiety for the subjects based on the actual situation survey in order to improve their sexual health and support safe and secure child rearing. This is the academic background and the academic question at the core of this study.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
