Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Pregnancy and childbirth are physiological processes common to all races and ethnic groups. However, the subsequent child-rearing process is strongly influenced by the mother's own cultural and social background. The nursing practice of nurses who support foreign mothers living on remote islands in A Prefecture is based on the understanding that they are "important women who have come to the island and at the same time need special consideration," and on the concept of "utilizing various means to gather information," "watching over them and connecting them," and "devising ways to help them. There existed a social interaction with the local community, "utilizing various means to pick up information," and "making use of local resources" while "devising ways to watch over and connect them. The nurses were practicing child-rearing support that involved the entire community and did not leave child-rearing to the mothers alone, while taking advantage of the advantages of the island.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
