Outline of Final Research Achievements

The top 4 essential characteristics were the daily intake of carbohydrate, blood sugar, blood triglycerides and total cholesterol to predict serum vitamin D in elderly people. Protein intake is not a good predictor. The logistic regression model showed positive and negative coefficients. Positive values for the blood sugar, carbohydrate, LDL cholesterol and lipid features decrease the risk of 25OHD insufficiency, and negative values for the triglycerides, total cholesterol and %Fat increase the risk of 25OHD insufficiency.

研究成果の概要にも述べたように、脂質代謝に注意し、血清ビタミンDを維持することがフレイル予防に貢献できることを明らかにした。高齢者の低栄養の予防のためのタンパク質摂取に加えて、ビタミンDを含む適度な脂質摂取についての食事指導が、フレイルの危険因子を除去するためにも重要な要因になると考えられる。
