| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We conducted as followed to examine whether brown adipose tissue is involved in individual differences of exercise therapy. We made presentations at academic conferences or papers on these achievements. 1) Devised a thermography method as a simple method for detecting brown adipose tissue activity. 2) Using the thermography method, we compared brown adipose tissue activity between people with habitual exercise. 3) Breathe acetone level in sprinter is significantly increased after cold exposure and higher than long-distance runners. 4) Investigated the relationship between the effects of exercise intervention and brown adipose-related gene polymorphisms.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
運動療法は、生活習慣病の予防や改善に効果的であるがその効果には個人差がある。我々は、先行研究で、褐色脂肪組織 (BAT)に関連する遺伝子多型 (β3AR)が運動療法後の個人差に関連することを報告している。BATは交感神経刺激により熱産生やホルモン分泌をする組織である。しかし、BATの評価法である18FDG-PET/CT法による被曝などの制限により、運動がBATに与える影響について検討された研究は少ない。そこで、本研究では、簡易なBAT評価法の開発、および、それを用いた長期的な運動によるBATへの効果について検討を行った。本研究は、BATが運動療法による個人差の違いを説明するための一助となる。
