Outline of Final Research Achievements

Children with autism spectrum disorder are well known to have comorbid developmental coordination disorder. They have declined visuomotor function that causes the movement impairment, and they cannot adapt their behavior to the changes of visual or somatosensory input in the environment. Detailed mechanism has not been clarified yet how the behavior adapted to the changes of visual or somatosensory input. We studied how adult's gait adapted to the changes of visual input. We found the gait has two adaptation processes. The first was the order effect that the gait gradually varied to the changes of the visual input. The second was the stable effect that the gait was stable to the randomly changed visual input.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
