Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study examined how wearing compression stockings or exercise intervention influence vascular function during prolonged sitting. The major findings were as follows; 1) During 3-h prolonged sitting, wearing compression stockings suppressed blood pooling in lower limbs and increases in heart rate. Moreover, cardiac para-sympathetic nerve activity assessed by heart rate variability enhanced. 2) During 3-h prolonged sitting, body weight exercise with every 20 minutes suppressed prolong sitting-induced an acute impairment of arterial stiffness in lower limbs. Furthermore, microvascular function assessed by near infrared spectroscopy during reactive hypermiea in lower limbs improved. Collectively, while acute prolonged sitting causes increases in blood pooling and impairments of vascular function in lower limbs, wearing compression stockings and/or exercise intervention could prevent these harmful effects.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
長時間座位中に1)弾性ストッキングを着用すると静脈貯留の軽減効果が認められ、かつこの効果は中心循環応答(心臓)とも関係していた。さらに、心理指標にも好影響があり、心臓副交感神経活動の活性とも関係していた。また、2)長時間座位中に自重スクワット運動を挟むと、脚の動脈硬化指標悪化は抑制されたが、上肢のそれは抑制されなかった。このことは筋運動が血管機能に重要な役割を果たしていることを示唆している。
