Outline of Final Research Achievements

The aim of this study was to examine whether social capital is associated with hypertension using lifestyle related diseases follow-up study(Shimane CoHRE Study). As a result, social capital was marginally associated with hypertension.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

高血圧症は、高齢化の進展に伴いわが国における解決すべき重要な健康課題のひとつとして位置づけられている。したがって、高血圧症の予防活動に資する研究成果は、一定の社会的な意義を有しており、加えて本研究課題では、近年、健康の規定要因としての学術的な関心の高まり、および実践活動の柱として注目されているソーシャル・キャピタルに着目した研究を実施することで学術的な意義を有していると考えられる。本研究では、高血圧症とソーシャル・キャピタルの間に弱いながら関係性が見られたものの、今後のさらなるエビデンスの構築においては大規模サンプルに基づく検討が望まれる。
