Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this project, we examined the impact of underlying combinatorics in the solution spaces of systems of polynomial equations. Focusing on polynomial systems in graph rigidity or spline analysis, we showed combinatorial characterizations of the dimension and the uniqueness of solution spaces.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

極大抽象剛性マトロイドの組合せ的階数関数の導出は,1991年にGraverによって抽象剛性マトロイドの概念を導出されて以降,グラフ剛性の文脈では重要な未解決問題であった.本研究でこの問題を解決できたことは特に学術的意義の大きい成果である. 今回開発したCrapoのマトロイド構築法と閉路連鎖を利用した組合せ的階数関数公式の関係は,より一般の多項式系の解空間の次元解析に展開可能であるが,その際の理論保証が課題として残っている状況である. 今後この点を解決することで,より広範囲の代数方程式系に対する組合せ論的数理基盤の展開が期待できる。
