Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, we evaluated the use and development of custom-made video games for research purposes. We developed simple game content intended to be used as stimulus in cognitive experiments and evaluated both the practical value and feasibility of developing such content as well as its usefulness in experimental contexts.
As the use of video game development tools such as game engines becomes more and more commonplace outside of the entertainment industry, we sought to demonstrate how relatively simple games could nevertheless have some experimental value, especially with regards to repeatability and openness, if they are developed using open source tools.
