Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, I revealed meaning of sentence final particles in Early Middle Japanese.　Also, I revealed relationships of these particles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

終助詞が表す意味は、発話の内容を話し手がどう捉えるかというものではなく、聞き手に向けられるものである。その終助詞の個別的な意味が鮮明になったことは、古典語研究において有用であるのみならず、古典作品の読解にも大きな意味を持つ。
また、終助詞の用法を現代語と古代語とで比較することにより、時代間のコミュニケーションのあり方の違いを考えることにもつながることになると考えられる。
