Outline of Final Research Achievements

(1) The objective phonological similarity for 2,058 Chinese-Japanese two-kanji compound words were calculated. The results were available to be searched at the web-accessible database. (2) It was proved there was a strong correlation between the objective phonological similarity and the subjective phonological similarity in Chinese-Japanese two-kanji compound words among native Japanese speakers, and examined various background factors of learners' judgments for phonological similarities. (3) The effect of tones in the phonetic production and perception of Chinese-Japanese two-kanji compound words in Chinese by Japanese learners of Chinese was demonstrated by a tonal perception experiment and lexical naming task. (4) The background factors of learners' understanding of prosodic information was shown by tonal perception experiment, lexical naming task, prosodic understanding experiment, and two Chinese language proficiency tests.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は音節・語レベルの知覚・産出で,語から文へと拡張していくコミュニケーションにおける背景諸要因を検討した。これまで語レベルに留まっていた先行研究に対して,本研究は日本人のための中国語教育に関する文レベルの実証的な実験およびテスト研究を実施した。また,日本人のための中国語教育の教授・学習における最大の難点である声調の習得に焦点をあてて検討した。その結果,従来の中国語のピンイン教育への問題点などを示唆した。さらに,語彙知識と聴解能力を介し,音声による知覚,産出における音律による文の理解との相互関係を解明した。今後の中国語教育における音声を介した教授・学習のために,多くの提言を含んだ研究である。
