| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of the present study is to contribute to the enhancement of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classrooms by presenting a model for teachers' oral feedback techniques during communicative activities in EAP settings. Through the microanalysis of video-recorded EAP classes using conversational analysis, this study investigated the types of teacher feedback methods employed during students' academic presentations that facilitate students' academic socialization. The findings revealed that when teachers employ an interactive approach that allows students to personally experience the trouble-source of their incorrect presentations makes the teacher’s feedback a catalyst for the students’ academic socialization. It can be concluded that teachers' EAP classroom interactional competence can be cultivated by learning from the actual examples presented in this study how to gather students' orientations to specific constructs of EAP.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
小学校からの「外国語」教科化そして中学・高等学校の学習指導要領の改訂を受け、我が国の多くの大学で「一般的な英語」から「学術目的のための英語 (EAP)」を身につけるための英語授業が現在盛んに行われている。この流れに対して、EAP授業に必要な教師の能力ということは十分に議論されていない。本研究はこの教師の能力を学術発表に代表されるコミュニケーション活動への口頭フィードバックのやり方という具体的な相互行為能力として会話分析という微視的・相互行為的視座を用いて明らかにすることで、我が国の英語教育そして英語教育研究の発展に寄与するものである。
