Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Applying visual research methods, this study investigates how various actors in higher educational institutions in Japan and Canada articulate the concepts of global citizenship and multiculturalism, and how their actions have relevance to the enhancement of diversity. I analyzed the data collected through document analysis, interviews, and surveys in Japan and Canada. In addition, I collaborated with university students in Kumamoto and produced a short film articulating the notion of diversity. The findings from this research project suggest that filmmaking in the classroom has the potential as a new multicultural pedagogical approach that can accommodate and promote diversity among teachers and students.
