Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は，基礎的な読み能力と認知能力，文章読解力との間に相互的な関連が見られるか，またその関連の様相が発達に伴いどのように変化するかについて，小学校2年生から5年生までの4年間にわたる縦断的検討を通して明らかにすることである。令和元年度は，本研究課題の縦断調査の2回目を令和2年1月から3月の期間に実施した。調査参加者は，調査協力校に在籍する，前年度に保護者からの調査参加への同意が得られた小学3年生の児童約180名であった。これらの児童に対して，前年度に実施したものと同一の一連の認知課題および心理言語学的課題を用いて調査を行い，参加者におけるそれらの能力の経年的な変化を評価した。
当該年度に得られたデータを概観したところ，(1) 2年生時に引き続き，漢字の読みの習得と最も関連が強い要因として語彙量があること，(2) 同じく2年生時と同様に，文章読解力は漢字の読みの習得および語彙量との関連が強いことが明らかとなった。これらのことから，漢字の読み，語彙量，文章読解力の発達における相互促進的な関係がより確かなものとして示されたと考えられる。3者の関連の強さにも2年生時と顕著な違いは見られず，少なくとも小学校低学年の時期においては，漢字の読みの習得と語彙量が子どもの文章読解力の重要な規定因になっていることが示唆された。一方で，高学年になるにつれて3者の関係性に変化が見られる可能性や，文章読解力が後の漢字の読みの習得や語彙の獲得を促す面もあると予想されることから，これらの点については3，4回目となる4，5年生時のデータが得られた段階での分析が待たれるところである。
