Outline of Final Research Achievements

Heterogeneous catalytic processes that enables the synthesis of high value-added chemicals by reacting naturally abundant sustainable carbon resources (CO2, biomass, etc.) with inexpensive light molecules (H2, NH3, etc.) have been developed. Specifically, we conducted reaction development, catalyst development, mechanism analysis in the following reaction system, and reported the results in a paper.
(1) Methanol synthesis from CO2 / H2
(2) Amine synthesis from triglyceride, H2, NH3

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

バイオマスやCO2等のサステナブル炭素資源を高付加価値な化成品に変換する触媒プロセスが開発できたことで、石油利用率のミニマム化・CO2の削減を同時に達成する高難度かつ実用的な触媒プロセス設計が可能となる。本申請により得られた成果は、そのような革新プロセス構築の礎となる。
また、固体触媒の設計理論は体系化されていない部分が多く、触媒探索の方法論は「絨毯爆撃的なスクリーニング」から脱却できていないが、本研究で行った触媒理論を体系化する試みは、関連の触媒反応にも適用可能であり、高活性触媒の開発につながると期待される。
