Outline of Final Research Achievements

Study for a novel peptide solubilizing tag based on a picoline moiety was attempted. However, the desired picoline derivative could not be obtained due to difficulty of derivatization of pyridine component. These results show that a fundamental synthetic plan should be reframe to successfully proceed this project.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究により、ピコリン骨格を誘導し、目的の誘導体を得ることが困難であることがわかった。しかし、新たな合成ルートを開拓し、可溶化タグの開発が実現されれば、難溶性ペプチドの合成を、通常の可溶ペプチドと同様に行えるようになることが期待される。その結果、従来では効率よく合成できなかった膜タンパク質の膜貫通ドメインなどを筆頭とする高疎水性ペプチド、タンパク質の汎用性の確立につながるものと考える。
