Outline of Final Research Achievements

We evaluated the therapeutic potential of targeting androgen receptor signaling and epithelial mesenchymal transition associated factors. We used two human prostate cancer cell lines: LNCaP, a hormone-sensitive prostate cancer cell line; and DU145, a castration-resistant prostate cancer cell line. ZEB1 overexpression in LNCaP induced docetaxel resistance. Real-time PCR and western blotting showed ZEB1 overexpression reduced the expression of AR, and ZEB1 knockdown reinduced the expression of AR.

前立腺癌の腫瘍の進展、浸潤、転移のそれぞれについては様々な報告がされているが、それらが相互にどのように関係しているのかは明らかではない。これらの転写因子群のシグナル制御機構を解明することで、浸潤・転移能、難治性・治療抵抗性の獲得に関する新たな知見となり、さらに難治性前立腺癌に対する新たな治療戦略を確立するための一助になると考えている。
