We successfully confirmed the biochemical reaction of tubulin, which is known as a part of motor protein, to form microtubules in the presence of liquid crystalline clay nanosheets, leading to reversible control of the liquid crystal structure. In addition, we developed a new synthetic method to covalently immobilize biomolecules on single layer nanosheets like tubulin by immobilizing the nanosheets in a gel network to avoid aggregation before sylilation reaction.
