Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we developed a 3D shape measurement system that uses spatio-temporal modulation. We built a spatio-temporal projector-camera system by combining time-of-flight camera, laser diodes, DMD, lenses, and electrical circuits. Using this device, we've realized a fast, wide range, and precise 3D shape measurement system.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

3次元の形状を計測するために、空間変調のみを行う構造化照明と呼ばれる手法や、時間変調のみを行う time-of-flight と呼ばれる手法など、様々な方法が提案されてきた。これらはそれぞれに長所・短所を持ち、測りたいシーンに合わせてユーザーが手法を選択する必要があった。我々は、これらの長所のみを組み合わせるような、新しい時空間変調方式による3次元形状計測方法を構築することで、どんなものでもこれ一つで計測できることを目指した。これは、産業用途はもちろんのこと、フィールド用途やコンシュマ―用途など、様々なシーンに適用可能であるため、社会的意義は非常に大きい。
