Outline of Annual Research Achievements

COVID-19感染拡大の影響で、共同研究の進展が著しく阻害されていたが、2019年11月に実施した東アジア地域オルタナティブ地理学会議ジオポリティカル・エコノミー・ワークショップにおける研究成果をTaylor&Francis社の国際雑誌Geopoliticsに特集セッションの刊行が2023年3月に4本目の論文が査読後受理され、正式に刊行されることになった。
また、昨年度に予定しながら、やはりCOVID-19の影響で実施できなかった国際会議を、国際地理学連合（IGU）テーマ会議をとして2023年4月の開催に向けて最終的な準備段階に入った。タイトルは「関係性の中の島嶼―紛争、持続可能性、そして平和」で、大阪公立大学で開催するが、2023年3月末時点で25か国・地域から対面参加者約85名、遠隔参加者が約30名の規模となっている。
この国際会議は本研究の中心テーマである「東シナ海島嶼をめぐるトランスボーダー地政学の構築」を、東シナ海地域を越えた地球規模での問題としてもとらえ、本研究の相対化を図るとともに島嶼をめぐる紛争、持続可能性、そして平和という普遍的な問題に対する学問的、実践的取り組みとして位置づける。対面と遠隔のハイブリッド方式を採用し、研究者の意見交換はもちろん、外交・地域政策や社会教育（基調講演部分の一般公開）といった側面にも視野を広げ、意義の高い会議となるよう準備していく予定である。
研究代表者並びに各研究分担者も会議組織委員として準備に参画するとともに、本研究での研究成果を会議で報告する。ただし、開催期間が2023年度に若干ずれ込んだため、本研究の1年間の延長も申請している。延長した科研費を用いて2023年度での国際誌特集号と書籍の刊行を計画することになっている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2023年4月に開催される国際会議を成功裏に終了させることが第一に目標であるが、それにとどまらず、会議での発表論文を中心に、政治地理学あるいは島嶼研究を主題とした国際学術誌において特集号ないし特集セッションを企画するとともに、日本国内やアジア各地域の研究を中心に書籍を刊行する予定である。会議参加者にペーパーの募集を募るとともに、各研究分担者の研究も公表すべく、刊行のプロジェクトを鋭意進めていく。
さらに国内外の会議において、当研究の成果を引き続き公開していく。当面は2023年6月に開催される国際地理学連合ミラノ・テーマ会議「地理思想における大洋と海」に研究代表者が参加するとともに、研究分担者とともに2023年11月に開催される人文地理学会大会において当研究テーマに関わる公募セッションを企画・開催する予定である。
