Outline of Annual Research Achievements

10月に共同研究相手のポールシェラー研究所からNikolaos Prasianakis博士(グループ長)とGeorg Kosakowski博士を招聘し,高知大学でセミナー,広島大学や東京大学にて学生向けのミニ講演会を開催するとともに,研究成果の最終的なとりまとめに向けた議論を行った.高知大学海洋コア国際研究所の研究者などとも意見交換を行うことにより,本研究成果を他分野で活用する可能性についても議論を行った.
また,研究代表者の半井,共同研究者の高橋,森,乾が共同研究相手のポールシェラー研究所を訪問し,これまでの研究成果(半井の放射性廃棄物処分におけるセメント系バリア,高橋のセメント系材料による重金属の吸着や溶出,森による湖沼環境における放射性物質の挙動,乾による廃棄物処分における粘土系バリアなど)を共有するとともに,今後の展開について議論を行った.特に,セメントによる重金属の吸着や溶出に関して取得した実験データに関して,ポールシェラー研究所にて開発した地球化学モデルGEMSを用いて再現し,機構の解明に向けた詳細な考察を行った.また,ベルン大学との連携により,本研究成果を一般廃棄物処分の分野においても活用するための方策についても議論を行った.
以上の議論を通し,今後のさらなる連携強化や応用研究のために,スイス側より「Special Call for Applied Research Partnership Grants with East and Southeast Asia」に,半井を主たる海外パートナーとして申請を行った.

Reason

コロナ禍で渡航の延長をしたことによって全体スケジュールが遅延し,また,その後のスケジュール調整に難航したことなどもがあったが,今年度は双方向の対面交流も実現でき,新たな申請も行うことができた.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

延長後の最終年度となることから,これまでの成果を英文ジャーナルにおける国際共著論文の形として発表するとともに,すでにスイス側で申請済みの研究助成も含め,次の展開に結び付ける研究活動を行う.
