Outline of Annual Research Achievements

インド洋からインドネシア海洋大陸を通過して太平洋へと東進する熱帯大規模雲群(マッデン・ジュリアン振動)に伴う降水変動の衛星降雨推定を再検討した研究を論文発表した。この論文で、インドネシア海洋大陸がマッデン・ジュリアン振動対流活発期において、衛星降雨データ(TRMM3B42、 TRMM3B42HQ、GSMaP、IMERG)の降水変動がインドネシア海洋大陸陸域で大きく異なることが分かった。
このような違いは層状性降雨がもたらしているため、マッデン・ジュリアン振動対流活発期の層状性降雨過程を調べるために、インドネシア西スマトラ州に設置されている赤道大気レーダーと1.3GHz小型大気レーダーを用いて降水雲内の大気鉛直流推定する二周波法を開発した。赤道大気レーダーから降水雲内の大気鉛直流の推定は行われてきたが、ドップラー速度スペクトルデータから大気乱流成分と降水粒子成分を目視で確認して分離する手作業が必要なため、短期間の推定に限られてきた。開発した二周波法によって、人手を介さずに大気乱流成分と降水粒子成分の自動的分離が可能となり、長期間の推定が可能となった。
また、インドネシア海洋大陸上で重要である降雨の日周期変動について、その下層風依存性を熱帯降雨観測衛星(TRMM)降雨レーダ(PR)を用いて熱帯全域で解析し、そのメカニズムを数値モデルによって明らかにした研究を論文発表した。さらに、TRMM PRとGSMaPから推定された降雨の日周期変動を比較した結果、GSMaPの沿岸域における降雨推定の問題点が明らかになった。

Reason

降水雲内の大気鉛直流推定するアルゴリズム開発の目処がたった。また、TRMM PRとGSMaPの降雨の日周期変動の比較によって、GSMaPの沿岸域における降雨推定の問題点が明らかになり、改善の方向性が定まった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

赤道大気レーダーと1.3GHz小型大気レーダーを用いた降水雲内の大気鉛直流の長期データを作成し、MJO対流活発期における層状性降雨の生成過程を明らかにすることを目指す。また、GSMaPの沿岸域における降雨推定の推定精度向上を目指す。
