Outline of Final Research Achievements |
While demand and production of livestock products continue to increase in developing countries, the spread of endemic zoonotic diseases (Neglected Zoonotic Diseases: NZD), which have already been conquered in developed countries, has become a major problem in the livestock sector. The purpose of this research is to understand the actual situation of the spread (prevalence) of NZD, which is almost unknown in developing countries, by collecting blood samples from livestock during field surveys in developing countries. We conducted an epidemiological intervention study focusing on “knowledge” and “incentives”. Based on agency theory, we examined the effects of mitigating economic externalities resulting from concealed behavior, comparing the “costs” required for countermeasures, and the expected economic “benefits”.
