Research Abstract

溶液中で機能している個々のモータータンパク質分子の時々刻々と変化する微細動態を高速に撮像できる原子間力顕微鏡(AFM)の開発が求められている。原子間力顕微鏡の撮像レートを大幅に向上させるためには、機械的要素であるスキャナーの性能向上が最も重要な課題である。スキャナーの構成要素として圧電体が用いられているが、圧電体自身の共振により、圧電体の応答速度が大幅に低下するため、これまで十分な性能を有する高速スキャナーは開発されていない。そこで、共振を軽減できる高速スキャナーを新たに設計・製作し、このスキャナーが超精密な位置決め精度で超高速に動作することを実証することを目的とした。具体的に行った研究課題は以下のようになっている。
1. 高性能な高速スキャナーの設計・製作
前年度に試作したプローブ顕微鏡用高速スキャナーの特性評価結果と今後の改善方法の指針を元に、スキャナーの構造自体に起因する共振と圧電体自身が持つ共振を軽減できる高速スキャナーを新たに設計・製作する。
2. 超精密な位置決め精度で超高速に動作するスキャナーの実現
アクティブダンピング法や逆伝達関数補償法、変位フィードバック法のためのパラメータを最適化し、300kHzの帯域幅で超高速に駆動できるスキャナーを実現した。
3. 高速撮像の実証
高速スキャナーを現有の高速原子間力顕微鏡に組み込み、高速撮像できることを実証した。
