Research Abstract

神経回路網形成を司る新しい生体物質LOTUSを発見し、その物質の機能に関する解析を行った。LOTUSの結合分子としてNogo受容体(NgR1)を同定した。LOTUSとNgR1の結合は、嗅覚情報を担う神経回路網の2次投射路である嗅索と呼ばれる神経束を形成するのに重要な役割を担うことが判明した。更にこの結合は、細胞同士の接着を誘起し、網膜神経節細胞や脊髄後根神経節細胞といった神経細胞の神経突起伸長を促したり、神経再生阻害因子であるNogoとNgR1の結合を阻害したりすることが明らかになった。
