Research Abstract |
The fluorescent intensity of marine humic-like substances was higher in mid-deep layer than surface layer, indicating that photo-bleaching is important factor controlling the vertical profile. Photo-bleaching also likely controls the molecular weight composition of humic-like substances. Microbial culture experiments revealed that humic-like substances were produced by bacterial metabolic processes.
