環境調和型化学プロセスの鍵技術である超臨界流体、特に超臨界炭酸ガス(sc-CO_2)媒体中における固体酸触媒機能を検討した。Sc-CO_2を反応媒体にすることにより触媒活性劣化の原因となる重質有機化合物が効率的に除去され、触媒活性が長期間にわたり持続されることが実証できた。また、新規触媒機能を有する多孔質触媒の創成に関する研究を行い、メソポーラス細孔とゼオライト骨格を有する新規材料Al-MCM-48-SUB の創製に成功した。
