Research Abstract

本研究は超好熱始原菌の一種Thermococcus kodakaraensis を対象に新規代謝酵素や経路の同定を目的としたものである.アプローチとしてはゲノム情報に基づいて推定される代謝機能と実際の形質(細胞の増殖特性)の矛盾に着目して新規酵素・代謝系を探索する方法をとった.特にペントース代謝、アミノ酸合成経路や補酵素の合成経路を中心に進めた結果、糖代謝・アミノ酸代謝・脂質代謝で中心的な役割を果たす補酵素A(coenzyme A, CoA)の新しい合成ルートを発見することができた.
