Research Abstract |
The folklore study of postwar Germany has been developing deeply concerned with the trend of political, economical and social conditions of Germany. Noting this fact, the aim of this research is set to clarify the history of the multifactorial development of the study, and to compare this history with that of Japan. We selected ten university institutes, to trace their own history, research and education concretely. It became clear that the following three phases are critical from the comparative perspective : academization of the folklore study in the fascistic society, rethinking folklore methodology in the high growth period, and Europeanization as a research subject after the reunification.
