Research Abstract

制御型直流アーク放電法を用いてクラスター炭素粒子にボロンを混合したハイブリッド型炭素(HBC)フォイルの開発に成功した。炭素にボロンカーバイド(B_4C)を混合することにより基板との密着性が著しく高くなり、これによって100μg/cm^2から700μg/cm^2の厚い蒸着膜を安定に作ることができた。HBCフォイルは2000±300Kの高温度環境下でも高温損傷が極めて少なく優れた高耐久性の特性を示した。この高耐久性HBCフォイルの寿命は従来の市販品の炭素フォイルの平均300倍、先端素材ダイアモンドフォイルの80倍以上の長寿命を示した。これらの結果から、高耐熱性HBCフォイルは今後ピンホールの解決すべき問題は残るもののJ-PARC等の大強度加速器やウラン等の重イオン加速器等のストリッパーフォイルとして、また、原子核物理、核物性、超重元素生成の実験等に用いる1500K以下の融点を持つターゲットのバッキング膜に広く使われることが期待できる。
